Ministry Statement

TAMFS-Michigan is comprised of faithful persons who have created a grassroots organizational structure seeking to educate, advocate, and care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender sisters and brothers in faith congregations and communities within the Detroit Presbytery and the larger state of Michigan. We are available to all who wish to participate in conversations around justice and inclusion within our congregations.

We offer opportunities that seek to deepen the experiences of congregations and heighten the awareness of our clergy and lay leaders to the damaging effects created in climates of fear and intolerance in our churches.

We seek to reconcile the Church to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender children of God who have been marginalized, disenfranchised, and deeply wounded by the power of those in the religious community that promote intolerance.

In response to our spiritual mandate, we gather together as a community of  God’s people to work for justice in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and in our communities. Compelled by Christ’s teaching of social righteousness, reconciliation and healing, we work faithfully for a Church that reflects God’s unconditional  capacious love and grace.
